Tutor - Ska Wars 2018Lessons are taught by Sion Littledyke, a 1st class graduate of Leeds University (music), with over 20 years tuition experience, and over 35 years playing experience.

Sion regularly enters students for grade exams on guitar (electric, acoustic and classical), bass guitar, and ukulele. Students have attained grade certificates (including regular merits and distinctions), with Rockschool / RGT (electric + acoustic guitar, bass guitar, ukulele and music theory), and ABRSM / Trinity (classical guitar and music theory). Several students have completed grade 8 exams in guitar and bass, and some have progressed onto FE and HE courses, including degrees at Leeds College of Music, Huddersfield University  and Leeds University.

School and College Experience

Accompanying his private tuition practice, Sion has worked for Kirkless, Leeds, Leicester and Wakefield music services, providing peripatetic lessons for school children (including a Junior Orchestra Conductor role for Leeds Artforms), as well as group lessons for adult learners. He has also worked at FE level teaching on BTEC / Foundation courses for Access to Music at centres in Bridlington, Hull and Leicester, including creating a pre-foundation course encouraging failing students back into education.

Online Lessons

Sion is also the founder of Coda Guitar an online video tuition site which offers lessons to both the general public and secondary schools. Sion created the lesson syllabus (based around music grades with developmental levels), alongside composing most of the original songs contained on the site. He also records and produces the audio + video for the lessons and backing music. Coda Guitar has branched out to include commercial song lessons and from 2018, lessons for roots and blues styles (including Cigar Box Guitar), are being developed (currently available to view on the YouTube channel)

Composition and Performance

Sion also has composition / production experience working through Coda Productions which includes broadcast credits. He has completed commissions in a range of areas including: TV title credits, documentary, film and animation scores, dance theatre, corporate projects and library music. Sion records and produces all his music (and video), through a professional project studio which is available for students to use for demo recording or to develop their own production skills.

Sion regularly performs nationally with several bands on guitar and bass, and gigs have included DownloadGuilfest and Mathew St Festivals as well as tours in France and Germany.
